Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA)

I’ve reached the end of my first week at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) artists residency, and have completed 4 of 8 wood engravings to illustrate childhood stories written 20+ years ago as part of my dissertation. VCCA is over 50 years old and located on 412 acres, part of a former slave plantation on land once owned by Sweet Briar College (SBC) in Amherst, VA---just 20 minutes from Lynchburg. With accommodations for 25 artists, writers, and composers, VCCA hosts about 400 creatives each year.
