About a month ago, I purchased some printmaking tools, MDF, and paper to create a woodcut to leave as a thank you with my hosts at the University of Edinburgh. I then wrote (a bad) poem to accompany the image. In thinking about how to print the text, I nixed the idea of using acetone transfer and thought it would be great to find a letterpress printer. I came across Lou Davis' website and contacted her. She has a lovely print studio in her home, 2 platen presses and several drawers of type. She offered to work with me in her studio to print my poem. Today we handprinted several versions of the thistle image I carved and next time we meet we'll set the type for the poem. Perhaps between now and then I can improve upon said poem, particularly as Lou is a talented poet as well as an artist. Thank you Lou!
